Saving Tips!
This week’s Mommy Moments is focusing on financial tips that I can share. I must say I am not credible enough to give you the tips to become financially wealthy because I am not Howard Clark in the making at all! Ha ha ha. I have my own way of saving though– when it comes to shopping, when it comes to teaching my child to be a smart shopper, when it comes to investing, and when it comes to laying up the most valuable treasures in life! Sounds exciting, I know.
First of all, my saving tips when it comes to shopping is simply being thrifty and frugal. Go for the items on sale if you can help saying “pass” on the ones that are at their original prices. I am a bargain shopper myself, so hitting the mall or the stores during the season-end-clearance is a huge thing. Lucky us who live in a place where there are four seasons because shopping for clothes can be really fun and excited as clearance or sales are everywhere every after the season.
I have this picture taken last year on the two trips I did at Kohl’s. I saved quite a bunch on what I bought; I just can’t remember what I got. Lol.

During the Spring clearance this year, I remember my shopping receipt from this store saved me $478 because I bought a lot of branded items at 80 – 90% off. Wasn’t that amazing? And no, I never buy a single item at its original price. He he he. And I bet you, my husband is amazed by my shopping power! Lucky he is for having a very frugal wifey! I may be a huge shopper, but a bargain-hunter I really am!
When buying online, too, I use coupons of discounts or find for a FREE SHIPPING offer.
Going to Thrift Stores like Goodwill is a great way to save, too. I hop into those stores sometimes when I don’t intend to really shop so that when I can find something worth the price that I’m gonna pay, it will be a bonus since it wasn’t my intention to shop. You know what I mean? I know, I am being silly on this one! I do it for fun, and the husband thinks it’s such a waste of time. Lol.
Secondly, a family savings there should be. Right now, the husband is the only main financial provider in our family because my income from my online gig is only so little but our bank account is joint so that we only one account to manage and foresee when it comes to watching our bank statements. A saving’s account for the child(ren) is important, too. And managing the credit card accounts should be done responsibly. I am lucky I got a husband who is good at computing numbers, specifically interest rates and premiums so it isn’t so hard at all to watch our credits and how much our payments should be.
Thirdly, teaching my child to save while she is still young is a good thing. This very first piggy bank that she has is a gift when she wasn’t born yet. A church friend gave this to me during the Baby Shower party that they gave me a month before I gave birth and when the daughter turned four years old, that’s when she started depositing her coins into this piggy bank.

After a year of starting a coin bank, she now has two other coin banks and none of them has been filled to the fullest yet. Lol. Blame our absence of moneys around here! Hahaha. That’s because we don’t use cash at all during our purchase so this child seldom gets to hold a money and drop it in her bank. Oh well, at least she has the thought that saving the coins will make her a responsible finance holder so it should be good enough.
Another thing is, our daughter is being taught to be a good steward of money. Every Sabbath, in her Sabbath School class, she always drops a coin or more at the offering box that they have. I and the husband grew up that way and we are teaching our child to do the same to show our love and being a good steward to God in forms of Tithes and offerings. I thought giving back to the church our love offering and tithes is laying up for ourselves treasures in heaven, since those moneys that we give back will help the missionaries reach out to others and share God’s love to them.

I still have more to share, but I think I’m going to end this post here. Gosh, this has been a long one (as if this is my first time making a long entry, LOL), and I still have to wake up tomorrow early for my dental appointment at 9am. Time check, it’s currently 2:11 in the morning, so staying this long doesn’t give you a tip on saving because I still have a lamp on and some electricity usage on the hours that should have been spent sleeping. LOL.
Anyway, I hope you’ve gotten even a single good tip from what I’ve shared!
And before I forget, Happy 3rd Blogversary to the very accommodating host of Mommy Moments!

Great tips, Mommy! I have to work on being frugal myself. I really should take advantage of bargains and sales. Here’s how we’re teaching the toddlers to save up.
Happy Weekend, Mommy!
Visiting from MM. Thanks for sharing and have a happy and safe weekend!!!
Bargain hunting is the trick. Like you I never buy branded items at its original price. (Ok, maybe once in a blue moon I do but it’s strictly for the kiddo only and not for me). Your kid attends sabbath school class? Do you also happen to go to church on Saturday, i.e. SDA? I used to do that. Now I just make sure my son attends sabbath school classes every Saturday. Thanks for dropping by my nook.
These are great money-saving tips, Mommy! I like the idea of shopping for branded items at very low prices. Happy MM, and thanks for the visit!
My eldest daughter also have a piggy bank, she has the color orange though. Thanks for stopping by.
