The daughter has been eagerly brushing her teeth all by herself when she was three. I only have to guide her and review what she has cleaned, and I do the flossing most of the times, too. Learning to brush her teeth all by herself is a skill that she herself was so eager to learn, and it helps a lot that the First Impressions Dental Clinic where she goes to regularly encourages us parents to let our kids brush their own teeth.
The other day, when she read in her Social studies textbook the different ways to have a good personal hygiene and one of the ways is brushing the teeth regularly, she wrote down the steps that she knows is right and showed it to me. What I didn’t know is that she will use what she wrote down as her guide, even though she is already an expert in brushing her own teeth. When I went to the bathroom, her note just by the oral hygiene kit that we have was what met me.
And what do you know? The mommyhood in me was all smile as I realized how smart this move was of my daughter! As detailed and as organized a girl that she is, she is simply like her mom when she displays such quality! But of course, we can be spontaneous, too!
